Update 22nd June
We were unable to recover the SQL databases from the linus ext3 file systems and so we are completely in the hands of the data recovery company, initial conversations with there techies is promising and they feel sure they can rescue the data, we will know more on Tuesday 24th June and can then provide another update on the situation. Again thanks for your patience and for the emails, texts and calls of well wishes and support. And for those that have pointed out the forum failure was Friday 13th well spooky we know but we are sure its just coincidence on this occasion. No one more than me wants to be able to get this back to normal and if we have to start again from scratch and rebuild it we will thats a promise. I will be gutted but we will continue.
Mike
Dear All
As most of you are aware by now the forum shut down suddenly on Friday the 13th June, at first it was thought it was just another temporary crash due to sql database issues. It became evident on Saturday it was much more serious than this as the websites for various companies, email and forums hosted had all stopped working. After conversations with the host company host-easy we were advised that the main and one of the back up drives had failed and shutdown. On Sunday night the host company engineer got to the data centre to assess the damage and two drives were completely shot. Work started then over the next few days to setup a temporary server and try and recover the data from the third drive, we have now managed to recover some of the data and restore as much of the site as is possible in the short time we have had. Unfortunately we are struggling to recover the SQL databases that conain all the forum posts, log ins etc (the important bits). Our Host company are sending the drive off to be professionally recovered and we are confident that we will get the data and put the forum back to the point it crashed. This will take some time and we just ask for your patience while we undertake this costly task.We would like to apologise to all members for the lack of warning and the downtime of the site due to these unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances. A new server is now being procured and will be put in place in a few weeks time; this will require minimal downtime and won’t be noticeable if all goes to plan. This has a better back up system and is generally all round a much better server.
We have now arranged a club mobile phone for times like these number is 07787 570275 please save the number to your contacts. Other than that the following email addresses are off the main server and can be used in emergency
Mike = robinsonml@btinternet.com
Griff = griff@moveronthemove.freeserve.co.uk
Once again our apologies and hopefully we will not have to face this situation again
Mike and Griff
